In a heartfelt celebration of national pride and fraternal unity, members of Gen. Douglas MacArthur Chapter No. 12, Order of DeMolay, marked the 126th Independence Day of the Philippines with a solemn flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony at the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the Philippines in Ermita, Manila.

The event was a poignant gathering that underscored the deep bonds within the Masonic Family. It brought together Dads from various Masonic Lodges, Moms from the Order of the Eastern Star and the Order of Amaranth, Sisters from the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls and Job’s Daughter International, and brethren from different DeMolay Chapters and Knighthood Priories. This unique assembly highlighted the interconnectedness of the Masonic organizations and their shared commitment to the values of freedom and independence.

Before the ceremony commenced, members of Gen. Douglas MacArthur Chapter had the privilege of meeting with esteemed leaders. They engaged in a fruitful discussion with the Grand Master of the Supreme Council Order of DeMolay, Hon. Dad Raymund Joseph Ian O. Mendoza, and Leg. Dad Albert V. Manlulu, Deputy Grand Master, who is also a member of the Advisory Council. This exchange was a testament to the strong advisory and mentorship role that Masons play within the DeMolay community.

The ceremony itself was a moment of reflection and honor, as the participants paid tribute to the heroes of the past and reaffirmed their dedication to the principles of liberty and democracy. The presence of so many members of the Masonic Family added a special layer of meaning to the occasion, emphasizing the enduring spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood that is at the core of Masonic and DeMolay teachings.

Following the ceremony, the members of Gen. Douglas MacArthur Chapter made a courtesy call to MW Dad Ariel T. Cayanan, Grand Master of the MWGLP. This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the chapter’s active involvement in the DeMolay movement and the important role it plays in nurturing young leaders. As a token of recognition for their contributions and dedication, the chapter was honored with the Grand Master’s Pin, a symbol of high esteem and encouragement for their continued efforts.

The celebration of the 126th Philippine Independence Day by Gen. Douglas MacArthur Chapter No. 12 was more than just a patriotic observance; it was a powerful demonstration of the Masonic principles of brotherhood, friendship, and love in action. It served as a reminder of the enduring legacy of independence and the collective responsibility to uphold the values that it represents.

As the Gen. Douglas MacArthur Chapter continues to thrive and contribute to the DeMolay movement, it does so with the support and guidance of the Masonic Family, embodying the spirit of unity and service that is the hallmark of Freemasonry and its affiliated organizations.
