“Huling Parangal sa Watawat ng Pilipinas” (Worn Out Flag Burning & Disposal Ceremony)

The Sir Knights of Gen. John Joseph T. Pershing Priory No. 5, SK Timothy Eijansantos, SK Michael Angelo Espinosa, SK Adrienne Gorda, SK Eathan Reyes, SK Prince Atun, SK Wayne Perez, led by their Illustrious Knight Commander, SK Giomar Genesis Gundayao, attended the “Huling Parangal sa Watawat ng Pilipinas” (Worn Out Flag Burning & Disposal Ceremony) of the Boy Scout of the Philippines-Zamboanga City Council last July 7, 2022 at Camp Jose T. Atilano, Pasonanca, Zamboanga City.

The ceremony was done in accordance with Republic Act No. 8491 or the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines. In Section 14, it is stated that “A flag worn out through wear and tear shall not be thrown away. It shall be solemnly burned to avoid misuse or desecration. The flag shall be replaced immediately when it begins to show signs of wear and tear.”

Reverence and respect shall at all times be accorded to the flag.
