Phoenix, Arizona – June 22, 2024 – Most Worshipful Sean Metroka, a distinguished figure in Freemasonry and a Senior DeMolay from Paradise Chapter, Order of DeMolay in California, recently reunited with DeMolay Philippines during the DeMolay International Session. This event was particularly significant as it marked a special moment for MW Metroka, who proudly wore his Maltese Cross Award medal, a prestigious honor bestowed upon him by Grand Master Raymund Joseph Ian “Raji” O. Mendoza.

MW Metroka has a long and impressive history with the Order of DeMolay. He has held various esteemed positions and has been recognized with numerous awards for his dedicated service. In 2007, he was named Advisor of the Year, receiving the Guild of the Leather Apron. His commitment and contributions to DeMolay have been exemplary, making him a role model for young members aspiring to leadership and service.

The Maltese Cross Award, presented to MW Metroka on April 24, 2024, the day before the Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of the Philippines, is the highest distinction within the DeMolay movement. It is a personal recognition from the Grand Master, awarded to individuals who have shown exceptional loyalty and service to DeMolay. This honor is not a Supreme Council award, emphasizing the personal nature of the Grand Master’s recognition.

During the event in Arizona, MW Metroka delivered an acceptance speech that touched on the profound impact DeMolay has had on his life. He credited the organization with helping him grow into a better person and inspiring him to join Freemasonry, following in the footsteps of his Dad Advisors. He also expressed his gratitude to GM Mendoza and promised to attend the session in Arizona, wearing his Maltese Cross Award medal with pride.

At the DeMolay International Session, MW Metroka was seen engaging with NMC Fred Atanacio, Grand Junior Councilor Eric Atanacio, and Sister Abby Atanacio, who had hosted him and his party during their visit to the Philippines in April.

The Grand Master’s Maltese Cross Award is a rare honor, with only 17 recipients in its history, including former U.S. President Bill Clinton. This award underscores the significant contributions of its recipients to the DeMolay movement and their role in shaping the lives of young men through the portals of DeMolay, raising better men for the future.

DeMolay International continues to be a beacon for youth development, fostering leadership, and character building among its members. The reunion of MW Metroka with DeMolay Philippines and his recognition with the Maltese Cross Award are testament to the enduring legacy of DeMolay in nurturing young individuals into responsible and exemplary adults.
