On July 3, 2024, in the scenic Alberta province of Canada, a notable assembly of DeMolay members occurred, adding a remarkable page to the fraternity’s storied past. Grand Master Raymund Joseph Ian “Raji” O. Mendoza, as part of his Canadian tour, convened with his DeMolay peers in Edmonton, deepening the ties of fellowship and common goals.
The day began with a meeting between DeMolay Canada President and Grand Master, James Plamondon, Executive Officer of DeMolay Canada for the Province of Alberta, Kevin Thompson, Grand Master Raji, and SGR Blen Calderon. This assembly of leaders was a testament to the collaborative spirit that defines DeMolay International, a fraternity dedicated to the betterment of young men through leadership and character development.
As the morning unfolded, Senior DeMolays from Alberta—Brother Warren Duclan, Brother Blen Calderon, and Brother Aries Fabian—convened over breakfast before embarking on their journey from Calgary to Edmonton. The camaraderie and shared vision for the future of DeMolay were evident in their discussions, setting the tone for a day filled with meaningful exchanges.
The journey to Edmonton was punctuated by a luncheon in Red Deer, Alberta, where GM Raji and SGR Blen Calderon were joined by Brother Emil Paltao, Brother Aries Fabian, and Brother Rich Silvestre. The meal was more than a mere pause in their travels; it was an opportunity to delve into the values and experiences that unite DeMolays across borders and generations.
The theme of “DeMolay: Portals of Our Youth in Raising Better Men” was woven throughout the day’s encounters. It served as a reminder of the profound impact that DeMolay has on its members, guiding them through the portals of youth into adulthood as responsible, principled individuals.
As the sun set on Edmonton, the brethren reflected on the day’s events, the new friendships forged, and the enduring legacy of DeMolay. Grand Master Raji’s visit was not just a series of meetings; it was a living embodiment of the fraternity’s mission to raise better men through the portals of our youth.
This gathering in Edmonton stands as a beacon of hope and a commitment to the future, showcasing the strength of DeMolay’s global network and its unwavering dedication to fostering leadership and character in young men around the world.
