LEON KILAT CHAPTER NO. 7 CELEBRATES 61st ANNIVERSARY, 120th INSTALLATION
Last August 25. 2024, the vibrant streets of Dumaguete City, known as the City of Gentle People, were bustling with activity as tourists flocked to the area during the long holiday weekend. Amidst the festive atmosphere, Silimanians found themselves reunited, marking a special occasion that coincided with Siliman University’s Foundation Week.
The visit of Honorable Grand Master Raymund Joseph Ian “Raji” O. Mendoza and his entourage was perfectly timed. The Leon Kilat DeMolay Alumni Chapter No. 44 held their general assembly and election of officers, while Leon Kilat Chapter No. 7, Order of DeMolay, opened its doors to install new officers and welcome the Grand Master, his party, and a host of guests, family, and friends.
GM Mendoza was accompanied by Grand Organist & Executive Assistant to the Grand Master, Brother Fatz Buenafe; Jurisdictional Deputy Grand Master for Visayas, Legionnaire Franklin Tumaneng; and Executive Officers, Legionnaire Frederick Miraflor and Legionnaire Jubert Carbajosa. The presence of these esteemed members added to the significance of the event.
DeMolays from various chapters, including Lapu-Lapu Chapter No. 5, Graciano Lopez Jaena Chapter No. 5, Serafin V. Aguilar Chapter No. 10, Datu Sawili Chapter No. 64, Juan K. Causing Priory No. 2, and Panay Priory No. 6, traveled to Dumaguete City to participate in this momentous occasion. Their presence underscored the unity and camaraderie that define the Order of DeMolay.
The evening was a celebration of fun and nostalgia, as members, both active and senior, reminisced about good old memories. The air was filled with laughter and warmth as friends and family reunited, strengthening the bonds that have been forged through the years.
The Order of DeMolay, with its motto “Portals of Our Youth in Raising Better Men,” has been instrumental in shaping the lives of its members. Through its various programs and activities, DeMolay has instilled values of leadership, integrity, and service, preparing young men to become responsible and productive members of society.
As Leon Kilat Chapter No. 7 celebrated its 61st anniversary and the 120th installation, it was a testament to the enduring legacy of the Order. The event was not just a celebration of milestones but a reaffirmation of the commitment to continue the noble work of DeMolay.
In the heart of Dumaguete City, amidst the joyous gathering, the spirit of DeMolay shone brightly, illuminating the path for future generations. The Order of DeMolay, with its rich history and noble mission, continues to inspire and empower young men, ensuring that the legacy of “Portals of Our Youth in Raising Better Men” endures for years to come.
